Re: Expo 11 - Possible Event Location

Honda Challenge would also be a part of the event where they would have qualifying and an actual points race incorporated into the event. Regardless of the location, I would be very hesitant about this idea. I don't mind seeing a fun race, but having an actual point race requires a lot of other thi...

It was nice seeing everyone! Sorry if we didn't get to talk or even say hi. It was a busy weekend. Hope everyone made it home safe.

Sorry.... but you really can't expect a refund with this short of a notice. ALL clubs that I know of require at least 5 to 10 days cancel...

Also, i raised my car like a 4X4 for the drive there, and im plannin to lower it quick once i get into town, am i suppose to lower it in the hotel parking lot, or is there a way i can do it at the expo before the event if theres any time? I would not suggest doing that, unless you have the ability ...

Expo After Thoughts?

Expo is over and I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did. It sure was a busy weekend but it was really worth it. Having 2 students was already tough, I can't imagine some of you had 3...! I have a suggestion for the next Expo or any future event that you guys might be involved organizing. I woul...

That's great info there. Another suggestion I have is that, even if your student is advanced or intermediate, if this is your first time riding with that student, tell them to HOLD BACK, drive at 5/10 or less, until you are 100% sure what they are doing is safe. Then you can go ahead and *allow* the...

I called up Cobalt Friction and they said that the 20% discount is on Cobalt pads only. I tried to buy rotors and the 20% discount, according to the sales rep, does not apply. :(

we need to release the safety rules before the event so people will not be stuck high and dry with something that is deemed unacceptable (and no way to fix their car to make it passable).... This is actually what I was going to suggest. Send out an email to the participants and emphasize that they ...

Tech Inspection

I once instructed a guy with a turbo Accord. He had the factory seatbelt removed and put in some mickey mouse 4-pt harness that is no wider than 1.5". He even had a palm size fire extinguisher mounted on the a-pillar, and flyers of his shop clamped under the wiper blades y0! Somehow the organiz...

AFAIK Frank has not had an accident with driving the students' cars yet. He had a big wreck in a race in a rented Miata tho. What everyone had a problem is that he flogged the student's car to 10/10. He likes to pass others in HPDE in corners and no-passing zones when he "thinks" that the ...

It does us no good to try and model our "instructor drive" policy after BMWCCA, PCA or another sanctioned group. First of all, these organizations are formally incorporated, which adds a shield of liability to its organizers. This is actually a very good point. Just for the record, the se...

One example was that a student rode in my car, he thought that I could make the turn-in because my car was setup "better". I actually wasn't going fast at all and I knew that his car could also do it safely. But he refused to accept the fact that his car could make the turn-in and kept tur...

Driving Student's Car

I know this is a touchy subject. Just for the record, I had never flogged a student's car. I didn't even flog sackdz's and EFFECT's race cars when I drove them. :P But I do want to know what the rules are on this regard. Personally, I think it's a good idea to drive the student's car for a few laps ...
