autocross set up question regarding tire

for scca d stock, i know that 225/45/15 hoosier is the way to go in the front, but what about 225/50/15 v710? i know in terms of gearing it is not as great, but would you think that it is better than 205 all around on v710??

225/50/15 might be too tall of a tire. Check the diameter before you use them.

Ive tried all the possible set ups. The one that wins is Hoosier 225/45r15 front and hoosier 205/50r15 rear. This helps for rotation.
If Kumho made 225/45r15s, I would try them , I think it could work.

This year I will be trying Hankook Z214 225/45 and 205/50....I will let you know.

grassroot motorsport conducted a test back in aug 05 taking the top street n race tires and compared it...
defitnitly let us know what the hankook feels on the R

to answer Bbasso
A6 225 OD: 22.8"
A6 205 OD:22.8"
710 225 OD: 23.7"
710 205 OD: 22.9"
hankook 205: 23.0
hankook 225: 22.8"

the 2255015 kumho is approx .9" bigger in terms of overall diameter compared to the A6.
in terms of pricing, hankook is a few dollar cheaper than kumho, and hoosier is about 30 dollars more.
kumho seems to last longer, and the performance dont deplete as fast as a6 as it get older.
currently, very limited info is avail for hankook, mainly because of lack of people using. and its a lot harder to find compared to kumho and hossier.

btw, in the past, i have ran 225/50/15 yoko 032r soft compound all around, and the type r doesnt rub anything, and it fits over stock wheel

By mid to end of April, Trac Racing in Montreal will have plently of stock on all the Hankook R compounds.

Both Z214 and Z211 in both compounds.

My main reason in going with the Z214 over the A6 is based on tire wear.

Last year we went through 40 tires..... we need to cut that some what.
If the Z214s do not work, well it wont be the last tires we buy in '07.

I will be very interested to hear how the Hankooks compare to the Hoosiers. I am avoiding the Hoosiers right now just due to the tire wear issue, frankly. Please let us know how they do!

i just got my hankooks in for my itr, will use it in the first week of may for a regional tour. let you guys know after the event

I guess for me, the main question is how fast the front tires wear out. If they are comparable to the Hoosiers grip-wise, AND they don't wear as fast as the A6, it would be a no-brainer.

My first set of tires this year will be 205/50 V710s all around... but I will be watching the Hankooks very closely for my second set.

Any updates on how these tires are performing on the ITR?

1) grip versus Hoosier?
2) wear versus Hoosier?
