2000 ITR stalling on attepted acceleration from 2000 rpm
My son's 2000 itr was checked by a dealer for stalling and running rough. Fuel system cleaning was done and after a test drive by the dealer the car was pronounced OK. It did run better at higher rpm, but the stalling issue was still present. Apparently they ran it hard but did not try to accelerate from a low speed in a high gear. It stalls if the throttle is opened at 2000 rpm in 4th or 5th (when one should be downshifting). It is as if the sudden loss of vacuum causes the engine to stall. It is then hard to start for a while. No check engine light and the dealer found no other codes in their initial testing. BTW, the check engine light for catalyst inefficiency went off after the injector cleaning. He does not trust the dealer any more. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

well the catalytic converter could be clogged, or possibly your fuel filter.

Distributor cap, rotor, wires, spark plugs, etc...all come to mind when reading this. Just a thought...
