#1334 hurt

Post by itr #1334 »

So the other day I hit a huge raccoon driving home at night. I thought it was worse then it is by the way it sounded and felt. Monday I am getting and estimate. I have a $500 dollar deductible. Ruke was giving prices for oem new bumper and lip. Didn't realize how much a new lip was more then the bumper. I did like having all vins matching though oh well. What do you guys think it will cost to fix this with all new oem parts plus paint? So I want your guys opinions and what to do. And no one better say jdm front. not happening

1. File a claim and get all new oem
2. File a claim then buy used parts
3. Just rock it the way it is.

Looks like my hood is a little off too

After having the receiver for 4 months finally put this bad boy together. Just waiting on the carrying handle/rear sight.

$2,186 is what American Family Ins. paid to have mine fixed in 2009. I was able to re-use my lip and fenderliner.
My bumper and emblemwere replaced and my hood was chipped, but not bent.

I was surprised at the cost.

I see you reusing that lip. Those things can easily be blended/fixed. Just a new bumper, corner lens and possibly the plastic between the fender/bumper.

Sorry to hear it happened.

Brand new lips are great. Paying the price for them is not.

I say you file a claim and then buy a used bumper and corner light, have em painted and fix the lip. Pocket the rest of the cash.

Sorry to see your R hurt like this. :(

I would say file the claim and buy new OEM parts.

I know that you can get a brand new lip (painted PY) for like $356 shipped (that is what I was quoted) and you can get the front bumper for like $200-$250 + paint so total would run you about $800-900 and you would have a mint bumper and lip. Just my .02.

Lip has to be OEM. Everything else can be picked up new. The good/bad thing is that the lip will be pre-painted.

So the estimate came out to $1630.xx. So i should have around $1100 bucks to fix her. If i can reuse the lip I should be able to find a bumber and paint it and have a few bucks left over( which will go straight to Dave lol). The estimate was for all new oem parts. The lady said insurance might not want to pay for oem sense its older then 5 years. I won't settle for less though.

shit, it looks like you can reuse everything except for that corner light

a good body/collision guy should be able to fix that crack in the bumper too
you would get to keep all your VIN#s in tact

Nice that be sweet. Think they could fix the tabs that hold the bumper to the fender?

Man, I hit a fox going 50mph and all it did was crack the clear coat on my bumper(he got wedged in the front air dam). Lucky it didn't do more damage than that.
I would fix it with oem parts, front bumper is about $240 for a brand new one, not sure about the lip, some paint, new bumper light and it will be like new.

I'd fix the existing parts as cheaply as possible and rock it like that. Also, if you're going through Acura, you should see if you can get the internet pricing - dunno if you looked at those or not, but they're 25% less in cost - my Acura does it no question.

FWIW, both sides of my bumper's corner tabs (where it screws to the fender at the wheel well) are broken - one side from the prev. owner's accident, the other side by me at e9, haha! You can push that crap back into place pretty easily, even w/o that screw - at least in my case, it kinda just sits there. If you looked at R-box's bumper and lip up close it's all rock chippy and spider-cracked paint and stuff, but I've saved all that money by never fixing it! ;)

I'd also check your headlight bracket to make sure it's not broken - mine was in that prev. owner accident I mentioned, but I think he hit a car and not an animal. Your light housing doesn't wiggle, does it?

Sorry, I just typed a novel...
love it or shove it.
