NSX-Powered Comptech Prototype at a local airshow...

Anything goes? Well, if you keep it clean and aren't obnoxious.

NSX-Powered Comptech Prototype at a local airshow...

Post by beastnatch »

I went to a local airshow thinking it would be a boring one. Sorta was...but, after the airshow, we decided to walk around while the crowd fought over leaving the parking lot all at once. Out of the corner of my eye, I recognized the comptech paint jorb. I was like, "HOLY SHIT"! So apparently the driver of the car from back in the day (Parker Johnstone), still owns it and he owns a Honda dealership a couple hours from where I live. He has this and what he said was Mugens first GT car (A tube frame crx), and a couple other goodies. I have both posters of this car at home! He told me to stop by the dealership and he'd show me the collection, and sign the posters. I'm going to definitely have to take him up on that sometime soon. He said he took this to NSXpo last year. He also races this every year (usually July) at a "classics" race held at PIR in Portland. Gotta check it out sometime. Parker was there packing up the car when I first saw it. I BS'd with him for a bit and then they put it in a trailer. He seemed like a really nice guy. I didn't even take the nicer camera, but my wife had a small one in her purse thank God! Figured I'd share a few cool shots.

Pics are about 4mb each, so I figured I wouldn't resize them all, but just add thumbnails instead.

Very cool. I love that thing. Is in no way an NSX though.

That's rad that he still owns it.

I've seen that in person as Sebring a few years ago when they had it sitting next to the real Comptech NSX. Cool stuff they did.

I've seen it referred to as the NSX Spice prototype before. Probably just due to the NSX engine. Definitely not an NSX chassis. The driver sits to the right of the center, and the shifter is on the right of the driver a few inches from the door. I wonder why they didn't just make it center drive. Very random to be there, but way cool.

Parker Johnstone is a cool guy, I met and rode with him when I went to the "ride and drive" for the 06 Civic Si. He tore that car up like no other. We where having a normal conversation while he was doing it too.
