I found a crashed 01 shell...I'm looking for opinions
Hey everyone,
I was searching junkyards for ITR parts and came across a 2001 that hit a railroad post/track in the rear quarter panel. I took a bunch of pictures and video, but my new phone erased all but one. I know it's white now, it was originally a black car. I'll give an idea of how hard it was hit.
Visibly, the quarter is hurt bad, the quarter didn't line up with the door well on that side, the lca and trailing arm is bent. On the bright side, all the glass is still there, the hatch still lines up even between the tops of the quarters and the filler between the hatch and bumper didn't even get a scratch.
I purchased just about everything that could come off the car and left the shell there sitting on it's belly in the mud. I mentioned how sad that was and they told that if I wanted the shell I could purchase it for $500. The car has an immaculately clean title, it doesn't change the fact that it's crashed.
So what do you guys think? I don't know anything about unibody frame straightening and replacing and have no idea what type of cost is involved.

Anything can be fixed. This one doesn't look too easy/cheap to straighten out though. Looks like the rocker is bent too.
For $500 I'd certainly grab it for remaining parts. Personally, I'd lean towards restoring it though if you "have a guy". Paying someone full price might be pretty expensive.
Mind PMing me the VIN? I'd like to add this status to the Registry..

Definitely a difficult fix, but I'm not a frame expert. Glad you pulled stuff off of it. It depends how much time and money you want to sink into it.

Sorry Spoon, the car was re-sprayed CW. Doespike has the vin and badge for the registration.Doespike wrote:This is a 2001 ITR that was originally NBP.Spoon PY ITR wrote:NJ? my old '98 CW was stolen in NJ.
I've decided that the car is too far gone for me to attempt repairing. I'm going to buy it anyway and finish pulling parts off it. I'm going to be greedy and keep all the parts those honda assh*les steal (in case mine get's taken again) Once I'm done pulling parts off, I'll post the bare shell on here for free to someone willing to do the work to straighten it and put it back together. At least it's clean titled and the badge number is known
Don't go crazy PM'ing me yet, I still need to figure out how I'm getting it towed home.....

It's not a very hard fix. If you want for a resale then don't
buy buy if u plan o keeping it it's really worth it.
As long as you don't mind the salvage title...

There is sufficient evidence to indicate that the rate of increase in output per unit increase of input decreases as the input increases
