Body panel interchanging with ITR vs non-ITR

Post by GI8U2racing »

So the race car needs:
  • New hood
  • New front bumper cover
  • New front lip
  • New front right fender
  • New passenger door
  • New passenger side skirt
Obviously the front lip is specific to the Type R, but how many of these pieces can be taken from any old Integra? Here is what I think I know about each piece, please fill in what you know...

New hood = same for all DC2's
New front bumper cover = any 98+ looks like it would work, but not sure if ITR is different
New front lip = 98+ ITRs I believe
New front right fender = believe same for all DC2's
New passenger door = believe ITR only because no door bump strip
New passenger side skirt = believe ITR only

yep. Though if having them painted it would be very easy/cheap to have the holes for the door molding filled if that makes it cheaper.

Non-ITR doors should be easy to come by. As Erik stated the holes can be welded/patched very easily. This is a race car, so it doesn't have to be mint y0. The only difference between ITR/Non-ITR side skirts is color. ITR units were paint matched from the factory. Non-ITR units were not. With the right amount of prep work a rattle can should do the job perfectly. I can link you to a TI article if it will help.

That's good to know that all DC2 side skirts are the same

So what about the front bumper cover? Any difference there?

Everything is going through a body shop by the way, so it will all be prepped and painted. Pictures of the final product should be coming soon.

Nope, bumper is the same too.

I've "heard" that the side skirts are longer by an inch on an ITR, however I don't believe it.

But as mentioned, most everything body wise is the same.

the one difference being that the ITR one's are smooth and painted VS. the LS/RS/GST etc being the rough black plastic right?

they're not rough. Once you paint them they're identical.
