Expo After Thoughts?

Post by Wai »

Expo is over and I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did. It sure was a busy weekend but it was really worth it. Having 2 students was already tough, I can't imagine some of you had 3...!

I have a suggestion for the next Expo or any future event that you guys might be involved organizing. I would suggest reserving an area for the instructors in the paddock closest to the pit. It was quite exhausting running back and forth between my car and the pit lane (well maybe I'm lazy). But there were several occasions that I walked up to the pit and didn't see my student, so I walked back to my car thinking that he might be skipping that session, but ended up running back to the pit again because the student was now there.

Another thing is that we can spot our students easily when they are lined up at the pit so we know when to walk up there to meet them; and they can also find us easily.

I had a blast! You guys are a great group, and would not hesitate to do another Expo.

I do agree about the parking issue. At one point I left my car in the tech area, just to the south of Grid. Helped alot when I was using my car to show the line, then hoping into theirs for the rest of the session.

I think the event went well and a lot of track N00bs were given the chance to see what the HPDE thing is all about. :)

One thought... the wrist bands should have been checked closer. I made it a point to show mine when I drove up towards pit-in... but several times I could have just hopped in a car and drove onto the track without anybody checking to see if I was in the correct run group.
The numbers on the windshield were one thing.... but I had access to two cars (a non-400 #) during the weekend for the instructor session.

I agree with Wai's idea also. Makes a lot of sense.

Perhaps we shall try it for the WeTodd expo :)
