98 Type R; 77k mi; JUN motor; lots of carbon; Massachusetts

Post by DJ-0878 »

Lucky and proud owner of this car since it was new. I never had any intention of selling of this car, but it has been sitting in my garage for four years and I need money due to a new baby and other financial obligations. This car was built with racing in mind by a true Type R lover and I am going to be very sad to see this car go.

Engine is not in the car; I have not been able to afford to have it assembled and dyno-tuned. Car has a long list of modifications, all well done, no expense spared.

Type R #0878, Championship White

Body

JDM front. CF hood, CF fenders, CF front and rear bumpers, CF hatch w/Lexan window, CF rear wing.

Shaved gas tank door, antenna, rear windshield wash sprayer.

Wheels and Suspension

Of course, stock whites. Dirty and scratched.

CE 28 Volk racing 16 x 7.5 11 lbs. each

Tien RA coilovers with EDFC

Skunkworks upper strut bars front and rear

Interior

Stock, sun faded seats typical of a 98 Type R with 77k miles.

Motor

Stock B18C5 head. Two bent valves.

B16A1 DPR stage 5 headwork. Done 7 years ago when Dan Palomar did the headwork. This was recommended by JUN.

JUN stage III cams, springs and retainers.

JUN 1.8 stroker kit, 11.5 - 12.3 compression, pistons, rods, crank.

JUN ultralight flywheel, JUN header, JUN exhaust.

B16A1 block machined by JUN for stroker kit.

Stock Type R transmission.

AEM cold air intake.

The engine is not assembled. Block and head are seperate and need a qualified machinist to assemble. JUN engine package cost me $12,000 in 2004.

This car's story is too long to type but I would be glad to indulge any serious buyers in the full background. This is a car for a serious enthusiast, it's not run of the mill in any way. Most of it is one of a kind, like the JUN engine which there are only 3 of in the world according to JUN in 2004. The carbon front and rear bumpers were made for me.

I think this car is well worth $20,000 and whoever buys it needs to come see it in person (hoping for local sale.) I'm not totally opposed to parting it out.

Thanks for looking and if anyone has input or advice on the sale of this car (my firstborn), let me know.

One sad seller,

Dave

Shoot me a price without the motor or the front end. I'm in the market and have a motor. The front end I can pick up.

The carbon bumpers were made almost 5 years ago. It was a company in Japan but I can't remember the name. The front bumper had a 6" crack by the head light. The company said they would not replace or fix the bumper and that they would never make a bumper like that again without it costing more than $2000. That's obviously not really worth it so I still have my cracked bumper.

What company did you have make the front and rear bumpers for you? I would like to contact them and see if they can do a few custom CF pieces for me.
