First run ever

Post by King-Tuning »

Mods- nothing bone stock
Only a cheap ass intake, with a b16 TB. Don't ask, I bought the R with a sohc TB. Got ripped off.
Tires falken AZenis 215/45/16

Well here is the e.t.

First run

launch 6,000 rpm held steady till wheel stop spinning, then full throttle. Spins half way on sec gear.
Tire pressure at 27
1.049 reaction
2.661 60ft
6.808 330ft
10.102 1/8et

12.916 1000et
15.310 1/4et
93.57 1/4mph

Second run

Launch @ 5,500 rpm held steady till wheel stop spinning, then full throttle. Spins half way on sec gear.
tire pressure at 27
missed third gear. Tranny has slight grind on 3rd gear at high RPM. :( Royal Purple max gear didn't help. Should I try something else.
2.508 60ft
6.552 330ft
10.263 1/8et
59.03 1/8mph
14.007 1000et
17.136 1/4et

Third run-- My bro drove it

Launch @ 3,000 rpm, waited about a split sec then he full throttle.
He lower the pressure to 20 psi
.241 reaction
2.362 60ft
6.411 330ft

74.93 1/8mph
12.539 1000et
14.954 1/4et
92.90 1/4mph

Last run

Launch @ 2,500 rpm, Full throttle rite away.
Tire pressure at 20
Didn't want to shift into 4th. Thought I can finish the run w/o going into 4th. Hit rev limit.
2.492 60ft
6.606 330ft
9.942 1/8et
73.89 1/8mph
12.771 1000et
15.193 1/4et
89.40 1/4mph

I love this R. Hopefully some more track times next year. Get some mods and get it tune by me.

Feature Mods, Hytech headers or something in that rang of quality. Mugen intake or aem. test pipe, thinking about mugen twin loop but I might go with something bigger. T1R 70mm???? I do plan on going 2.0 high compression one day.

I've got an SMSP header FS. ;)

As for the drag racing... keep the tire pressure low. While the falkins have a decent side wall strength, you should be able to run them no problems around the 20 PSI range.

Launch just outside of Vtec (depending on stock engagement or not) The goal here is to minimize wheel spin, and be in Vtec right away.

Practice, practice, PRACTICE!!!

Have fun!

Agreeing with Dave. Drop those tire pressures to around 18-20psi.

Also, are you feathering the clutch and gas on the launch or just releasing the clutch and hammering down the gas? I used to like to launch mine at or just a lil above 4k rpm and then feather the clutch and gas until it hooked.

I was just coming back here to make that point.

You need to feather the clutch...

Instead of wheel spin, you have to let the clutch take the beating. While this is the most "destructive" way, it's also the fastest.

My bro did drop the tire pressure to 20 psi.

Feathering the clutch. I'll try that next time, maybe just a few times. I just don't feel like breaking things yet. I just bought her. 8)

Also do you guy recommend Royal Purple max gear for Tranny fluid.

No, stick with Honda/Acura MTF and change it every 5,000 miles. seems like alot- but will save your trans.

I guess everyone has their favorites. I think I'm going to try Amsoil next. Or maybe Mobile 1 tranny oil.

Seat time does wonders! Trail and error and you will find your sweet spot. Then mod your car and go find that sweet spot again.
