I'm pretty convinced that Honda lost money with every ITR they sold in the States. Anybody out there sure about this? Since they did sell them from '97 through '01, it couldn't have been that bad could it? And in the 4 years of production, approxiamately 4000 total Type R's were produced and MSRP w...

Re: security questions
I've heard of lots of Rs stolen even with the immobilizer. One easy thing to do is make sure you relocate the hood release cable so they can't just reach in and pop it.

'90 CRX si was my beater that I had since new. Then I replaced it with an '02 WRX Sportwagon since I wanted a skimobile that could drive through blizzards to the slopes in winter and haul a mountain bike in summer.

Re: Is your stock tach accurate?
Is there a different cutoff when in neutral? Last week, at the track, I accidentally moved the shifter out of gear twice and bounced the rev limiter, but when I looked at the tach, it was 8000. Usually I rev as close to 8400 as possible, shifting around 8200-8300 rpm. Maybe the revs dropped quicker ...

I don't know if the wheel offsets account for the entire 10 mm difference.

Re: Type R vs WRX
I notice the torque difference in my WRX wagon even at low RPM before boost. At altitude, the lag is deadly, but once boost kicks in, it is much faster. The 500 pound weight difference and softer suspension means loads of body roll however. That's why my R is the track car.

Re: '97 1.8 (1834cc) '2000 1.8 (1.797cc) ?
The VTEC engines have 195 (ITR) and 170 hp (GSR).
The non-VTEC engine has 140-142 hp (LS & GS).
ITRs only have the one 1.797 VTEC engine.
2000-2001 models have more advanced timing than 1997. 1997 is lighter because it doesn't have A/C or rear wiper.

Re: Cruising revs
Stock v. stock, my old '90 CRX si used to rev at about 4000 rpm at 85 mph, the ITR higher. The ITR revs higher in each gear than the CRX, but I didn't really notice it until I look at the tach because the flywheel and clutch are lighter and freer reving engine. So any ankle fatigue is less. At these...

The wear on the left side is normal but your rear tires should not be wearing faster. It should be the other way around but that is probably due to your rotation. Why does only the left sides wear most? I've only noticed the outer edges on each tire wear, but that's because most of my driving is au...

Can someone quote prices for all the tires listed above? It's interesting that the S03, AVS ES100, and Azenis are also the top tires for the WRX. Hopefully these are much cheaper in the smaller ITR size.
