2000 PY ITR 38k miles Immaculate (need advice)
Hey everybody, so here's the scoop. I own a 2000 PY ITR with 38k miles on it. Clean Title, garage kept. i have a minor ding on left quarter panel and a chip on the bottom right of the windshield. Those are HONESTLY the only flaws. I'm unfortunately trying to sell it, but can't come up with a good price for it. I tried to sell it a year ago but all i got was Low Ballers!! Wanting $15,000. I didn't think that was a reasonable price to sell it at. Any suggestions? I need to sell it, but i'm not desperate. I was thinking somewhere around $20,000? What do you guys think?

Incase you haven't realized, today's market is hardly a sellers game, but a buyers. So on that note you will most likely be offered less then what the car is really worth and that sucks. But like everyone else who needs to sell, take what you can get and run... if you are in need of money.
Asking price/ what you want will take a long time to get. Getting offered something you can live with... will also take some time. Giving in and taking what is offered should be quick.
The decision is up to you, but I'd always start high... Never mind the comments, haters and lowball offers, just deal with it till an offer comes along that you like and won't regret.
Asking $20,000 for a nice condition R I think is reasonable. But getting something close and I hope you do is doubtful.
Good luck on the sale I hope each and everyone who sells and ITR gets top dollar, they are worth every penny. (and will be more in the long run- especially an original owner's ITR)
Oh, if you really want to get all that it's worth,,, Fix everything and provide receipts for the buyer. it will help to squeeze every dollar out of the sale.

Everything Rob said, exactly. Personally I wouldn't take less than $16k unless really forced to sell. Yes, fix the minor issues before listing again.

I agree with what Rob and Joe has stated. This is an original owner car, garage kept, and has low miles. You need to stress that with the sale. For the right buyer, their eyes will light up, because those are very important factors. I would fix the small nicks. It wouldn't hurt to pay the ~$150 from a person like Rob to have it professionally detailed, waxed, and buffed. It will bring the car to showroom condition and help with the sale. It is also very important to take good showroom quality images of the car when posting online. A picture is worth a thousand words, so make sure the images are working for you and not against you.
All in in, goodluck with the sale. I wish I was in a different position and could pick it off your hands.

On an another note, if you haven't already, familiarize yourself with other ITR listings. It may help to make a note sheet containing year, color, mileage, condition, and location. You can use this as a base when these lowball offers. When the offers come in, try not to look at the large number, and compare if with the ITRs listed on your sheet. At the end of the day, you need to be happy. So again, goodluck.

Maybe I'm missing something but where does he say it's an original owner's car?
Also, I don't think $15k for what you have is necessarily low balling. Like Doespike said maybe in the $16k range but the car would have to be near perfect to fetch much more than that. With that being said, definitely fix the small things that need it and ask top dollar for heR.

Just to let you know I do travel to detail vehiclescoolhandluke wrote: It wouldn't hurt to pay the ~$150 from a person like Rob to have it professionally detailed, waxed, and buffed.

But I just realized you are in NoCal... That would be a touch to far from me (in SC). But I could get you some people to choose from. IF you are interested.

He is the third owner of the car...CDUB wrote:Maybe I'm missing something but where does he say it's an original owner's car?

Which I hate to admit, takes a little value away.

Hey all, thanx for all your opinions. Definitely makes sense. Yes I am the third owner of the car. I put about 17,000 miles on it. I got it when it had 21,000 miles on it. Yea it probably would be a good idea to spend a little money to detail the car. Do you guys know roughly how much it would cost to fix my windshield?

Fix the windshield, what's exactly wrong with it?
It's glass... so replacing might be the better option.
OE Honda glass is expensive, Some aftermarket glass is cheap and looks cheap. If you replace it be sure you get someone who has many years of knowledge to do it.

Re: 2000 PY ITR 38k miles Immaculate (need advice)
Ya thats what I meant, to replace it. O ok. Ya i should probably look into that. Its not bad, a small chip, but i guess if i want to get as much $ as i can off the sale it would be a good idea to replace it. I will probably try to start selling again closer toward May, so if anyone knows anyone who is looking for an ITR in great shape PM me. Thanks again all for the info.
Re: 2000 PY ITR 38k miles Immaculate (need advice)
Small chip, as in it can be fixed/filled? There are companies near me that will fix anything that will fit under a dollar bill, and it holds up too, and can't really notice/tell. Might be another option since Honda glass is uber expensive.

Dave, how does that work? The chip is obviously still visible right? The chip is about the size of a dime maybe? Possibly smaller?
Re: 2000 PY ITR 38k miles Immaculate (need advice)
They have a resin that they inject into the crack/chip. Then it's polished smooth. It's not as noticable as one might think.AceTypeR16 wrote:Dave, how does that work? The chip is obviously still visible right? The chip is about the size of a dime maybe? Possibly smaller?
I'll do some digging and see if I can find the local company here's website to give you a reference.

http://www.safelite.com/repair.jsp
As for safelite, I worked for them for a while.
If you do decide to use their services, ask for a senior man to do the work. I mean senior as in 10+ years. Trust me I know.
I worked with this guy who had 8 years in the Co and he still had no clue...
If they say come to the shop to have the work done, go. They usually keep the best guy in the shop for those stubborn/hard jobs that suck doing them on the road
I suspect most places would do the same. (diamond triumph did)
If you were in the SC area I'd say get the glass and I'd save you a bunch of $ on install costs...
Good luck.

16-18k isnt a bad asking price WITH the small damage it has. Car is 9 years old..that mileage is cream! Dont go lower! Keep our cars prices up!

Re: 2000 PY ITR 38k miles Immaculate (need advice)
Sweet thanks Dave and Rob. You guys have been a great help. Lastly, you guys know any autobody shops that can get rid of the dent on my rear left quarter panel? It has a scratch on the dent, you think they would have to sand it down and re paint the entire quarter panel? Cause i know that gets pretty pricey. Just a ballpark estimate, how much would it cost to get the windshield and dent fixed?
Re: 2000 PY ITR 38k miles Immaculate (need advice)
Rob, that's exactly who I was thinking of. Safelite repair, Safelite replace... or so the song/jingle of the commercial goes.
To the OP on the dent, I personally would try a PDR (paintless dent removal) place first. I wouldn't worry so much about the scratch unless it's way down to the metal, and even then I think I would still leave it on there, but remove the ding.
