Interesting little car. I bet it's fun.

Things to look for... well here in the US that the VIN matches correctly to body panels. Previous theft/accident reports.

Something for you to look for is original motor with car, oil burning, the color of your choice.

If possible perform and compression and leak down test to determine if you have a healthy motor.

Cheers Mate.

I dunno if I'd say bullet proof. They can be done in, but if treated right do quite well. Just don't mis-shift and you should be ok. Burning oil is COMMON with these motors though.

Hi Dave,

What do you think is "normal" for burning oil in a 100+K ITR? I'm wondering because I'm trying to figure out if my ITR is abnormal or not. I don't burn any oil that I know of at 120k miles - is this odd for an ITR?

What kind of oil? Weight? Driving habits/style? Has it ever been rebuilt that you know of?

If properly mantained, then no, not odd.

It's mine since new. Properly maintained. Driven hard but never tracked - I take pride on smooth shift and clutchwork up and down. Standard oil 50% of the time, and about 50% of the time mobil-1. Sounds like not burning oil at this stage is normal. Cool. Thanks.

A good UK ITR community site is http://www.itr-dc2.com. Alot of them look on pistonheads for cars for sale (http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/list.asp?s=233). Good luck on the search.
