Modified R's

Post by 40calpal »

Hey i was wondering if anyone knew what % of R's get modified or how many stay stock. I'm not sure how far to go in my mods b/c of the fact its a limited car and resale is always higher when the car is stock. I'm split between messing with the block and just leaving it and charging the car seems out of the question for many people. Anyone have any help?

I would say that 70% ITR owners modify their cars. People just can't help it, the drive for speed is unstoppable. I know everytime i'm flooring my ITR I always say to myself I can go faster than this....

It's probably up there, or at least in the 16-35 age range any way...I guess it depends on what you want to do to your car...and if you're already worried about resale....well.....one word....issues.....hahahaha...jk.

As far as resale goes, realistically, you can put basically anything back to stock, and recoup at least some of the money you put into mods. For example, a Jackson charger, will sell on ebay for anywhere from a 1-2K used depending on condition, and other than a couple minor bolt ons, your car can be back to stock in an afternoon. As far as resale goes, though in some cases a stock car will fetch more money...If you're willing to be patient, there are those people who with the correct mods are often very interested in modded cars....As far as going into the bottom end, if you plan on selling it soon, it's not worth the money any way...if you're keeping it, who cares about resale...I think your enjoyment is far more important...worry about resale when that time comes...just keep all the parts handy....

When I first got my R, I was like "I will never mod it!" Well that lasted just a couple months, LOL. My wife still likes to remind me of this statement now after I have I/H/E and coilovers and 3 sets of wheels.

I am too br0ke to not worry about resale value of the car however. I make sure to keep all my stock parts, stored carefully, and also I choose to buy very high quality mods that will hold their value should I choose to return the car to stock and need to get rid of the mods. If I ever decide to sell, all the stock parts will go on and the mods will be sold for hopefully a decent %age of what I paid.
