its my understanding that the badge you get at acura is stamped "98-spec", but i could be wrong.
the VIN gives the number in production:
Although this is not entirely accurate, it could give a rough estimate of what your number is.
the VIN gives the number in production:
12th to 17th characters- Identifies the sequence of the vehicle for production
as it rolled of the manufacturers assembly line.
Although this is not entirely accurate, it could give a rough estimate of what your number is.

funny,
sorry, i just assumed because there is a pattern between my vin and my badge #, I guess it could just be pure coincidence. I guess the only way to find out is to populate a list of last four of the vin vs badge, but how many R owners are going to give out even a partial vin?

This is 100% correct.Jon D wrote:The VIN has 100% nothing to do with the production # stamped on your armrest. Throw that idea out the window....its not valid. Unfortunately there is no way of finding out unless you contact the previous owner, even then he/she may not be sure. Best wishes finding it though!
I have worked at Acura/Honda dealerships for 10 years. I talk to the REPS all the time. Honda Kept no records of vins and badges.
I 1st tried to have a stolen armrest replaced for a customer of mine back in 2000. I "thought" it would be as simple as ordering it. I gave the part# and vin# and badge#,even the parts guys saw "no problems".(Then again...they never do!!!) Man, was I wrong.

When the armrest came in the badge just said Acura on it, no #. I thoght for sure it was a mistake and sent it back. 2 months go by... When the new armrest arrived, guess what? Same thing.
This set off a 6 month ordeal as I talked back and forth with Corporate Honda, looking for a resolution. To which there would be none.... Honda sent that cust. a letter(which I later read too). It simply said "no records where kept or retained for the ITR regarding badge #s. " He was S.O.L.
Sorry for the bad news..Good Luck too ya
They have no data to tie together the engine number and the vin, sorry folks.
Some are VERY close in number, some are THE SAME, and some are way, way off. Maybe honda has a DB with this info, but they are not sharing it.
Make your numbers up. Use negative or imaginary numbers.
Chris - who wonders where ITR 01-0001i is
